Chief of Police

WILLIAM L. MIZNER
was appointed Chief of Police on August 24, 1987, becoming the 26th
Chief of Police in the history of the Norfolk Police Division. Prior
to his appointment, he served two years with the Mitchell, SD Police
Department and 10.5 years with the Kearney, NE Police Department.
Chief Mizner has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice
and is a graduate of Northwestern University's Traffic Institute
Police Administration Training Program and the FBI's 176th National
Academy. In addition to his duties as Chief of Police, Chief Mizner
serves as a member of the Nebraska Police Standards Advisory
Council, the oversight body of the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training
Center, and is a guest instructor at the Training Center for the
Management and Supervision certification courses.
