Swimming Pools

The City of Norfolk has swimming and wading pools at three different locations. They are open from approximately May 24 through mid August. The pools may close for the day with little notice for reasons such as nearby lightning, cold temperatures and other unanticipated circumstances. Memorial Pool and Liberty Bell Pool are full sized pools and each do have a small children's wading pool. The daily fee for entry to these pools is $2.00 or a single admission season ticket may be purchased for $40.00 (includes youth, adult and Sr. Citizen). A family pass season ticket is $80.00. Children age 5 and under are free but must be accompanied by someone over 18 years of age. Season tickets may be purchased at the Recreation Coordinator's office located in the City auditorium at 127 North 1st Street.

Swimming lessons are given at this location. Four sessions will be offered: June 7 through June 17, June 21 through July 1, July 5 through July 15 and July 19 through July 29. Classes are held Monday through Thursday for two weeks with Fridays reserved for make-up days in case of inclement weather. Sessions 1, 2 & 4 have classes at 4:45 pm, 5:20 pm, and 6:00 pm.  Classes for Session 3 are 11:00 am, 11:40 am, 4:45 pm, 5:20 pm and 6:00 pm. Registration begins May 18, 2010 at the City Auditorium, 127 North 1st Street from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Registration moves to the pool on May 28. You may register for two sessions for each child at this time. Cost is $20.00 per student and is to be paid when registering. There will be absolutely no early registrations. No refunds after session begins. Call the Recreation Coordinator's office at 402-844-2014 for more details.

The Central Park location has two small children's wading pools. There is no charge for entry but admittance is limited to only children 54" tall or shorter that are accompanied by an adult.
