The Housing Director participated in a National NAHRO Legislative conference call. The Legislative Agenda is being prepared for discussion with our Representatives at the Conference in late March.

The new Resident Manager/Maintenance staff for the Kensington began employment. A welcoming reception was held for them and the tenants to introduce staff and tenants to each other.

Housing staff attended the NIFA conference in Omaha. Housing funding for development through the Tax Credit program is proving to be more difficult due to economic conditions.

The 2010 Nebraska Fall Housing Conference will be held in South Sioux City. The Housing Director is
co-chairing the conference.

The Regional Nebraska NAHRO Conference will be hosted in 2011 in Omaha.

The Housing Division continues to gather information for the Housing Board to help in determining whether to work with Johnson Controls on improvements to the Kensington. Another option may be to save the costs payable to Johnson Controls, and work with the City Attorney and City Finance Officer to get a loan to improve the windows and heating equipment.

Housing Staff met with several interested parties to discuss homes to be built or placed on vacated lots due to demolition of the properties. The CR grant requires replacement of the demolished homes.

Housing Staff are taking names for the Owner Rehab Program (Low-income homeowners housing grants).
