Sandbagging Class101

Members of the Norfolk Fire Division participated in Sandbagging 101 classes.  The classes were taught by Jim Dooley and included a PowerPoint presentation and actual hands on training.  All three shifts and the Reserves were trained.  See photos. 

In  light of the 2010 flood, fire division and emergency management officials felt that a class in sandbagging was necessary.  The city will be forming a sandbagging team consisting of public works employees.  These employees will be the team leading sandbagging operations in the city should the need arise.  Region 11 Emergency Management purchased two GoBagger® Shovels to assist in the filling of the bags.
