NORFOLK FIRE RESERVES
The Norfolk Fire Reserves were created in 1982 to supplement the
paid fire fighting staff. In order to qualify for the
Reserves, candidates must successfully complete a rigorous physical
course. They are paid quarterly and are compensated $10 per call and
$10 per training hour. A life insurance policy is also
provided to our Reserve fire fighters.
Training is the first and third Tuesday of every month from
9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Reserves are
issued bunker gear and a pager and are paged out on large scale
events as well as to supplement paid staff when the need occurs.
