Flood Control Maintenance

The Norfolk Flood Protection Project was constructed in 1968. The project is approximately 4 miles in length. It lies north of the city and proceeds southeasterly around the east side of town.

Maintenance consists of mowing, erosion protection, structure inspection, debris removal and observation during flooding. Maintenance costs are about $25,000 per year. A large part of mowing is under private contract.
